Jacques Henri Lartigue
Description
Subject Matter:
This photograph of "Zissou," Lartigue's brother Maurice, documents one of the common leisure activities depicted in his work. He and his family and friends participated in races, often creating their own "bobsleds," which were quadruped vehicles made from bicycle wheels. Lartigue began a lifelong interest in photography at age six. Throughout his life, he made photographs of his family and friends and archived them in a photo album. His photographs remained unknown until 1963, when his work was published in Life magazine.
