Zôri are flat sandals, similar in form to “flip-flops”, commonly worn with traditional Japanese clothing.  Zori comes in various heel heights and is appropriate for casual to semi-formal use (1.1 to 1.5 inch.) or formal use (over 1.9 inch.).  A pair covered in brocade like this with this height (over 1.9 inch.) would be reserved for formal attire.
