Art In Public Spaces

Transforming everyday spaces into vibrant arenas for reflection, inspiration, and connection

With hundreds of art installations situated in public spaces across Ann Arbor, the University of Michigan’s public art collection offers a wealth of exploration opportunities. The collection includes both permanently installed and temporary artworks that span across a range of media.

The President’s Advisory Committee on Public Art (PAConPA) strives to foster the enrichment of the university’s visual environment by positioning works of public art of the highest caliber in settings appropriate to the scale, purposes, aesthetics, and materials of individual works.

Members of the UM community (students, faculty, and staff) can submit proposals for public art projects on campus.

Over time, buildings and landscapes change across campus, but public art endures, shaping our experience, cultivating memories, and expressing a university’s values and history for generations to come.
