For those who enjoy admiring art, watching films, and listening to engaging stories, here is a list of some great events happening near you this spring!
Machine Dazzle: Ouroboros

Interested in art? Stop by the Irving Stenn, Jr. Family Gallery during any UMMA hours and enjoy all that Machine Dazzle has to offer! In Ouroboros installation, visitors embark on a journey of cyclical themes, with the gallery space evolving to reveal new layers of meaning. The exhibition will be close at the end of this summer so make sure to check it out soon!
THE MOTH: Ann Arbor GrandSLAM Championship: A Point of Beauty
April 24th, 7:00pm

For all listeners of The Moth podcast, this is probably the to-die-for event. The Moth will be inviting previous winners of their open mic StorySLAMs to tell stories based on the theme: A point of beauty. These fantastic storytellers have all won with stories ranging from humorous personal revelations to sob-worthy memories, so this event is guaranteed to be a hit. Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm at the Ark!
Independent Film Festival Ypsilanti (IFFY)

If you are a fan of films and want to support rising creators, stop by and watch a movie (or two) at Ypsilanti’s independent film festival! Located at Riverside Arts Center, showings will occur spanning over April 24-27 and tickets can be purchased either for a single movie or a bundle.

THE MOTH: Backfired

Hosted at The Blind Pig, this Moth StorySLAM’s theme asks their storytellers to discuss a time when their plans backfired. Unlike the championship in April, all are welcome to sign up for a chance to tell a story. So if this theme speaks to you, this is a great opportunity to test out your storytelling skills in front of a live audience!
