Join the UMMA Student Advisory Board in discussing a selection of books from a reading list created by julia elizabeth neal, guest curator of UMMA’s Silver Linings.
Over coffee, tea, and pastries, explore ideas from “Parable of the Sower” by Octavia Butler, “The Skin I’m In” by Sharon Flake, “How We Get Free: Black Feminism and the Combahee River Collective” by Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor, “Sisters of the Yam: Black Women and Self-Recovery” by bell hooks. Come having read one, none, or all four. Find new meaning in the exhibition and connect the literature to the media.
Free and open to the public.
