Subject Matters: Art Tank Pitch Competition
It’s a pitch competition – for art acquisitions. In this live, high-stakes finale to the Business of Art (BE 460) course, teams of U-M Ross School of Business students will go head-to-head to convince UMMA Curators which work of art deserves a place in the Museum’s permanent collection. After weeks of research and deep dives into the art market, student teams have each selected an artwork they think belongs at UMMA. The winning team’s selection will be purchased, become a part of the collection, and will be placed on display at UMMA as part of the Business of Art installation currently on view through Spring 2026.
Hosted by UMMA Curator Dave Choberka, with insights from UMMA Curator Jenny Carty and Ross Professor Tom Buchmueller. Don’t miss this exciting 90-minute event that turns museum decision-making into a live discussion about value, vision, and the future of collecting.
This event is free and open to the public, no registration required. Subject Matters: Art Tank
Subject Matters
Subject Matters is the coolest S in the museum. Each 90-minute session is part mind-expanding conversation, part social adventure. UMMA Curator Dave Choberka teams up with a U-M professor or other special guest to unravel surprising questions sparked by the art in UMMA’s galleries.
