Subject Matters: The Art of Telling Stories With Art

Tue, Mar 19, 2024
6:00pm–7:30pm
A. Alfred Taubman Gallery II

Have you ever wondered why museums put art where they put it? How do curators think about “framing” experiences and first impressions when designing an installation? How do we place works of art in dialogue with one another to generate meaning for visitors? For this ‘behind-the-scenes’ edition of Subject Matters, UMMA Curator and perennial host Dave Choberka will take us on a tour of some of UMMA’s galleries to consider the hidden choices behind installing art and how those choices can unlock new stories.

Subject Matters is an event series that invites you to make new connections, explore art and ideas, and surprise yourself. Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Curriculum / Collection.
