Director's Acquisition Committee

The Director’s Acquisition Committee (DAC) meets twice a year to discuss potential acquisitions of new works of art in consultation with curators and UMMA staff.

UMMA curatorial staff propose acquisitions in presentations that include art historical research, information about community and student use, pedagogy, and larger collection strategy. Members make a yearly contribution to an acquisition fund that is used by UMMA to purchase works from contemporary artists. The committee has a focus on acquiring works from artists with backgrounds currently underrepresented in UMMA’s collection.
